Out the Expressway

State Highway 51, the Broken Arrow Expressway, runs straight from downtown Tulsa, and the Rose District is less than twenty minutes out. Broken Arrow is big enough that people forget it is a suburb. It counted 113,540 people in 2020, the fourth largest city in Oklahoma, and it spills over two counties, Tulsa and Wagoner. A party on the far east side takes longer to reach than one on Main Street. You pay the same for both, which is nothing.

What happens where

Private one-on-one sittings stay at a coworking space in Tulsa, so a Broken Arrow client drives in for those. Events go the other direction. I load the cloth, the deck, the lamp, and a small sign into the car and set up in your living room, on your patio, or in the room you rented on Main. Events start at $300 for up to two hours, and each hour after is $125.

The Rose District

Downtown Broken Arrow became the Rose District in October 2012. It is the stretch of Main Street between Greeley and Indianola, and it has more than fifty places to eat and shop. Main Street Loft and The Lodge on Main, both below, are a short walk apart on it, so the whole evening can happen on foot: dinner in one building, then drinks and a reading in the other.

    333 W. Dallas St., in the old ice plant and power company building, put up in 1906. Both the taproom and the beer garden rent for private parties.

    Rooster Days

    Four days of carnival, parade, 5K, and an indoor and outdoor vendor marketplace. 2025 was its 94th year. Handmade and specialty booths apply each spring.

  • Mid-September

    Broken Arrow Rose Festival

    Chalk It Up! covers the Rose District sidewalks Friday and Saturday, then kites fly at the Events Park on Sunday. A 10 by 10 booth is $155.

  • Saturdays, April to early October

    Rose District Farmers Market

    8 a.m. to noon at 418 S. Main St., with more than thirty vendors.

    Rose District Holiday Market

    The same address, 4 to 8 p.m., with the BA Ice Rink alongside. The 2024 run went from November 5 to December 17; the dates are set each fall.

    No. Broken Arrow is inside the metro, so a party there costs what a party in midtown Tulsa costs: $300 for up to two hours, then $125 an hour.

  • Can you read at a backyard party near the Rose District?

    Yes. Outside, I need a flat spot for a small table and two chairs, some shade before sundown, and a lamp after it. I can run without an outlet. If it is windy I weight the cards and keep going.

  • Have you read at Stoney Creek or Willow Creek Mansion?

    Not yet. I have no Broken Arrow appearances so far, and I would rather say so. At a hotel the size of Stoney Creek, ask for a small side room or a table near the ballroom doors, away from the speakers. Willow Creek's ballroom holds 125, so a corner table works as long as the band plays at the other end.
